[Anime] Woah...Princess Mononoke's San = Spirited Away's No Face?

I was watching "Princess Mononoke" for the first time last night and came to this scene where San is sleeping:


Seeing this reminded me of "Sprited Away's" No Face:


Now, cropped and rotated, here they are together:


Quite similar, aren't they? Now, of course, they're both under the direction of Hayao Miyazake, but this similarity seems odd to me.

Anyone have any opinions on this similarity? I can't tell if it's purposeful or accidental. :X

I remember watching Spirited Away with a friend, but yea I can definitely see the resemblance.
